Thembelihle Teni
Founder/DirectorMy name is Thembie Teni and I am the Founder and Director of Versatile Community Social and Wellbeing Services CIC (VCSWS). I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse and currently work as a Domiciliary Registered Manager. I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Disability Studies and Health in Contemporary Society at Northumbria University in 2015, followed by a master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing at the same university in 2018.
I am a hardworking, compassionate and determined professional with over 20 years of experience within the Health and Social Care sector. Throughout my career I have worked in a variety of care settings, including hospitals and community-based services, undertaking a range of caring and leadership roles. I have also worked as an agency nurse across different services, which has given me broad insight into the sector.
I have significant experience supporting people across all age groups, including young people, working-age adults and older adults, in both inpatient and community settings. My experience as a Community Practitioner has reinforced the importance of community engagement, accessible support and collaborative working with individuals and families.
In my role as a Director and Registered Manager for a well-established homecare service provider, I have demonstrated strong leadership and the ability to effectively guide and support a team. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of people who use services remains central to everything we do. I have developed strong skills in maintaining high standards of home care through effective care planning, staff supervision and quality oversight. This commitment to high-quality care was reflected in our Care Quality Commission inspection, where the service achieved a Good rating in all areas.
I also have a strong track record of building and maintaining positive professional relationships with staff, health and social care professionals, people who use services and their families or carers.
As a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individual, my passion for community initiatives has been shaped by personal experience, community engagement and purposeful work within diverse communities. I am particularly committed to addressing health inequalities experienced by marginalised groups and supporting individuals whose circumstances may be affected by financial or social disadvantage.
Through Versatile Community Social and Wellbeing Services CIC, I aim to challenge stigma, empower communities and transform my passion for supporting disadvantaged groups into meaningful action and opportunities, including pathways into employment and career development.
